Fernando Lorente has been counsel of the Public Law, Litigation and Competition Practice Area of Uría Menéndez’s Madrid office since 2005. He is currently on leave of absence from his role as a judge. He was the head of the Education Services of the General Counsel of the Judiciary (Servicio de Estudios del Consejo General del Poder Judicial), legal director at Repsol and chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Spanish Association of Oil Producers and Operators (Asociación Española de Operadores).
He focuses his professional practice on corporate transactions, legal disputes and civil and administrative proceedings in Spanish EU, and EU competition law. He is a specialist in energy contracting. His vast experience includes defence cases in national and international corporate proceedings, and arbitration and jurisdictional cases. He represents his clients before the National Competition Commission and administrative courts of the National and Supreme Courts, as well as before the European Commission, the First Instance Court and the European Court of Justice.
