Ignacio has been a chaired professor of labour and social security law since 1992. He is currently holding this position in the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (in Madrid) and previously did so in the Universidad de Cantabria and the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. He was also a labour and social security law lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid as well as vice-dean of its law faculty.
Ignacio is also a regular speaker and commentator at law seminars and conferences pertaining to his field of expertise.
