Juan Martín Perrotto is a partner in Uría Menéndez based in Beijing and is both an Argentine and Spanish qualified lawyer.
Juan Martín joined the firm in August 2003 after having practiced as a lawyer for six years at Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, a leading law firm in Argentina associated with Uría Menéndez.

His finance practice consists of advising on acquisitions, structured and project finance, and multilateral workouts. Among the various areas in which Juan Martín’s involvement has been significant is the PFI/PPP sector, in which he aided in the drafting of the legal and contractual framework applicable to PFI/PPP projects (Argentina and México); the financing of correctional and court facilities and energy projects (Argentina) as well as court facilities, roads, rails and ports (Spain); and his contribution as an expert in the group that advised the United Nations on good governance in PFI/PPP projects.
Juan Martín’s M&A practice involves advising on joint ventures, tender offers, trans-national mergers, private equity transactions and acquisitions. He recently participated in the acquisition of banks and other companies in Latin America the sale of Spanish financial institutions, joint ventures related with the distribution of financial services in Spain, tender offers launched to take over energy utilities and, in the acquisition of, among others, energy companies by foreign investors.
Juan Martín’s practice has focused particularly on China and Latin America, both in finance law and M&A. He has headed Uría Menéndez’s Chinese Desk since 2007 and is currently the head of the Latin American Practice Group in Beijing.
In 2010 Juan Martín was acknowledged by International Law Office as the best lawyer in Spain for General Corporate Law. Leading international legal directories (Chambers & Partners, IFLR 1000, etc.) have named Juan Martín as a leading lawyer in Spain in the area of project finance.
