| Aurelio Menéndez Menéndez is a Founding Partner
of Uría Menéndez. He is presently based in the Madrid office of
the firm. Aurelio enjoys a well-earned reputation for his
lifetime dedication to legal study and research which has led
him to hold the following positions:
- Honorary Member of the Asturian Academy of Jurisprudence
("Academia Asturiana de Jurisprudencia"), appointed in 1977.
- Magistrate of the Constitutional Court, 1978.
- President of the Commercial Law Section of the General
Commission of Codification ("Comisión General de
Codificación"), appointed in 1978.
- Emeritus Magistrate ("Magistrado Emérito") of the
Constitutional Court, by appointment on June 11th, 1986.
- Full Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and
Legislation ("Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación"),
elected on April 8th, 1986.
- State Counselor ("Consejero de Estado"), appointed in
1992.
Aurelio also played an active role in the Spanish political
scene and was Minister of Education and Science between 1976 and
1977. |

Between 1970 and 1992 Aurelio was Chaired Professor of
Commercial Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He was also the Dean
and founder of the Law Faculty of that University.
