Francisco Brito e Abreu joined Uría Menéndez in 2001. Between 1991 and 1995 Francisco was in-house counsel at Terrazul - SGPS, S.A., the Portuguese subsidiary of Ciments Français (1991-1993); at Panatlântica Holding - SGPS, S.A., a privately-owned holding company (1993-1994), and at Inapa - Ivestimentos e Participações, SGPS, S.A., a listed Portuguese paper company (1994-1995). Between 1995 and 2001 Francisco practised in a Portuguese law firm. He became a partner at Uría Menéndez in January 2005.

Francisco focuses his practice on commercial and corporate law, with particular emphasis on the following areas:

• Mergers and acquisitions: Francisco advises sellers as well as purchasers on corporate acquisitions, representing both Portuguese and foreign clients. He also represents foreign and Portuguese companies in joint ventures and mergers, and frequently carries out due diligences.

• Commercial and corporate law: Francisco provides general commercial and corporate law advice (in particular, on national and international commercial agreements) to Portuguese and foreign companies.
