Ignacio García-Perrote is a partner in the Madrid office of Uría
Menéndez and heads the Labour Law Department of the firm. He joined the
firm as a partner in 1999. His professional experience covers all
practice areas of the Department, his activities in the preparation of
legal reports, appearance in labour courts and advising on corporate
restructuring, including the negotiation of collective bargaining
agreements, the adjustment of employment levels (“expediente de
regulación de empleo”) and collective redundancies, being of particular
note.
He is regarded as a leading lawyer by the main international legal
directories, such as, Chambers & Partners and PLC, among others.

Ignacio has been the editor of the Labour and Social Security legal
journal “Justicia Laboral” since it was founded in 2000. He has also
been an arbitrator of the “Servicio Interconfederal de Mediación y
Arbitraje”(SIMA) since it was founded in 1997.
He was an Attorney of the Constitutional Court from 1989 to 1991 and
from 1995 to 1999 (personally appointed on the latter occasion by the
President of the Court). He was awarded the medal of the Constitutional
Court.
Ignacio also acted as arbitrator in trade union elections in
Cantabria in 1994 and 1995. |
Legal Teaching
Since 1992, Ignacio has been a Chaired Professor of
Labour and Social Security Law. Currently, he holds this position in the
Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha and previously did so in the Universidad
de Cantabria. He was also a Professor of Labour and Social Security Law in
the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid as well as Vice-Dean of the Law Faculty.
He is also a regular speaker and commentator at law
seminars and conferences pertaining to his field of expertise.
