José María Segovia has been Managing Partner of Uría Menéndez together with Luis de Carlos since November 2005. He joined the firm in 1980 and became a partner in 1988.

José María has extensive experience in corporate, mergers and acquisitions and insurance matters. He is frequently asked to advise on acquisitions in the textile, advertising, food and drugs, transport and storage, information technology, energy and mining sectors as well as on privatisations in the steel and mining sectors. José María is also an expert on the establishment and acquisition of insurance companies, the transfer of insurance portfolios and the distribution of foreign insurance companies’ products in Spain. He has also participated in the negotiation of key transactions in the finance, hotel and construction sectors. He has acted as Secretary to the Board of numerous leading companies in the information technology, oil, transport, leisure and insurance sectors.
