José Pérez Santos is a partner in the Madrid office
of Uría Menéndez. He joined the firm in 1974 and became a partner in
1982.
During 1976 and 1977, he did a traineeship in the
Brussels office of the US law firm Cleary Gottlieb.
José focuses his practice on commercial law,
communications law, pharmaceutical law, food law and entertainment law.
José is frequently asked to represent and advise key
players in regulated sectors on both corporate matters (such as M&A,
joint ventures and corporate restructurings) and on regulatory matters (including
governmental authorizations). He has also handled significant
competition cases in the sectors mentioned.
José was considered a “Leading Individual” in
Communications by Chambers Global Guide 2003 and 2004-2005 and in the
2003-2004 and 2005 editions of Global Counsel 3000 and as a “Legal
Expert” in IT and Telecommunications by European Legal Experts 2003,
2004 and 2005. |

Chairman, Board of Trustees of Fundación Profesor Uría.
Legal Teaching
From 1978 until 1984, he lectured on Commercial Law at
the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
From 1985 until 1991, he lectured on European Community
Law at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid.
He is a regular speaker at law seminars and conferences
on matters pertaining to his field of expertise.
