Rafael Vargas joined Uría Menéndez in 1993 and became
a partner in 2000. He was a resident partner in the New York office of
the firm between 2000 and 2002 and he is currently in the Tax Department
of the Madrid office. Rafael focuses his practice on
tax law and is frequently asked to advise foreign investors with
interests in Spain as well as Spanish investors abroad on International
Tax Planning. He also advises on the tax treatment of
individuals and companies on M&A, real estate, transactions, project
finance and structured finance. Rafael has recently
been involved in the following transactions:

The restructuring of various Spanish and foreign
industrial groups with a presence in Spain.

Advising developers and/or foreign investors on the
planning and execution of various real estate projects in Spain.

Tax planning (individual, family and hereditary).

The design and analysis of various financial products
which are sold in Spain.
