Warsaw office and Practice Group for Eastern and Central Europe

Introduction

Uría Menéndez, having in recent years developed a presence in Central and Eastern Europe, has now established an office in Warsaw. With this also comes the creation of the Practice Group for Eastern and Central Europe comprising various practice areas (tax, labour, commercial, real estate) for advising clients in the region.

The objective of the Warsaw office and the Practice Group for Eastern and Central Europe, led by Agustín Redondo and Romana Sadurska respectively, is to offer more comprehensive services to our clients with interests in the area. Their scope is not restricted to Poland, but rather extends to countries in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, where we are establishing a team of lawyers from some of the most prestigious firms in each practice area.

The creation of the Practice Group for Central and Eastern Europe will facilitate coordination between Uría Menéndez’s lawyers in Warsaw, Spain and Portugal. This approach will allow the firm’s members to recognize important market opportunities as well as changes in the legal environment, providing investment development and security for Spanish and Portuguese companies active in Central and Eastern Europe.

Practice areas and business activities

The focus of the Warsaw office and the Practice Group of Central and Eastern Europe is general business law, particularly those matters relating to real estate, energy and infrastructure, financial market, tax and commercial law.
To that end, the lawyers of Uría Menéndez will:

1. Form a working team with the most appropriate local firms in order to provide comprehensive legal services by the best professionals in each practice area.

2. Strengthen and support the services provided by local firms, ensuring that Spanish and Portuguese clients understand the advice provided and are made aware of the differences in the relevant legal systems affecting them, while working to meet and exceed their expectations on quality and their business objectives.

3. Ensure an effective integration of domestic advisory services with international, Spanish and Portuguese matters, with special attention not only to tax planning, but also to compliance with commercial, corporate and labour law.

4. Coordinate and handle complex transactions arising under diverse jurisdictions in Central and Eastern Europe.

5. Provide clients with advice and ensure that their business activities comply with local legal procedures in the region.
