| Charles Coward joined the firm in 1975 and was
made partner in 1981. He practiced in the Barcelona office
between 1987 and 1993 and in the Madrid office between 1993 and
2004. Since January 2004, Charles has again taken up residence
in Barcelona as Head of the Barcelona office. He handles a
wide range of business transactions, concentrating on real
estate and project finance of real estate developments and has
coordinated several high profile property transactions in Spain.
Charles was named European Leading Expert in Corporate and
Commercial by Legal Business 2003, 2004 and 2005. His name also
appears in the 2003 edition of Legal Media Group’s Guide to the
World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers and in the 2003 and 2004
editions of the European Legal 500.
The 2003-2004 edition of
IFLR 1000 regards Charles as a Leading Lawyer in Banking Law.
His name is also included under Corporate Governance in the
2003-2004 edition of Who's Who Legal. |
Selected Professional and Civic Activities
Charles has served on the Board of Directors of the Benjamin
Franklin International School in Barcelona, Spain (1989-1993) and is
currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American School of
Madrid. He serves as Co-Chair of the International Division of the
International Law and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Charles served as Director and member of the Executive Committee of the
Board of Directors of Lex Mundi from 1998-2002.
Aside from his practice activities, Charles has
participated as arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings and is a
frequent speaker at civic and professional gatherings and contributes
articles to a variety of professional publications.
