| Emilio Díaz Ruiz is a partner based in the
Madrid office of Uría Menéndez. He joined the firm in 1981 and
became a partner in 1989. Emilio Díaz’ practice covers a wide
range of commercial work but he has tended to specialise in
banking, capital markets and project finance. He acts as
external counsel to many banks and has been a key player in the
drafting of regulations in the field of securities. He has also
been involved in significant project finance transactions such
as wind farm and mini-hydro projects. Emilio was named
“Leading Individual” in Banking and Finance by Chambers Global
2003 and 2004-2005. He was regarded in the 2003-2004 edition of
Global Counsel 3000 as a “Highly Recommended Individual” for
Banking and Finance and in the 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions of
IFLR 1000 as a “key contact Partner” for Banking. Emilio was
also considered by European Legal Experts 2003 and 2004 as a
Legal Expert in Banking and Finance. His name also appears in
the 2003 edition of the Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s
Leading Banking Lawyers. |

Legal Teaching
Since 1986, he has been a Professor of Commercial Law at
the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Universidad
Complutense de Madrid.
