Luis de Carlos has been Managing Partner of Uría Menéndez together with José María Segovia since November 2005. He joined the firm in 1983 and became a partner in 1991. Luis headed up the firm’s Barcelona office between 1993 and 1995 and was responsible for the firm’s legal practice until he was appointed Managing Partner.

Luis has extensive experience in corporate, finance and capital markets matters, regularly advising on M&A, project finance and securities transactions, in particular:

• takeovers;
• initial public offerings;
• pan-european share offerings. Block Trades;
• share issues by listed companies;
• the issue of warrants, structured bonds and other sophisticated securities;
• the issue of convertible and high-yield bonds;
• the issue of preferred stock, both in Spain and overseas;
• the development of issue programmes of Medium Term Notes and commercial paper; and
• securitisation transactions

He is widely considered to be “the expert” on capital markets in Spain.
