Rafael focuses his practice on corporate tax, non-resident tax and accounting law. His expertise has led him to advise on corporate  restructuring transactions, as well as on the design of tax-driven financial products. In the last two years he has been greatly involved in the planning and negotiation of several telecoms project finance deals. Moreover, he has worked in the most important project finance transactions in Spain, including: 

• advising a telecoms company on the issuance of high yield bonds and the closing of a joint venture deal;
• advising a telecoms company on the sale of its internet provider subsidiary;
• advising a telecoms company on the finance of new licences in different jurisdictions;
• advising on construction contracts for a solid waste incineration plant in the north of Spain;
• advising financial entities on developing receivables securitization deals in Spain;
• advising financial entities on developing hybrid products in Spain; and
• advising a paper company on obtaining off balance sheet financing. 

Rafael was named Leading Individual in Tax by Chambers Global 2003 and 2004-2005 and Highly Recommended Individual for Tax in the 2005 edition of Global Counsel 3000.
