Selected professional and civic activities
Charles served on the board of directors of the Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona (1989-1993), as chair of the board of trustees of the American School of Madrid from 1994-2008 and serves as a Lifetime Honorary Member since 2009. He has served as co-chair of the International Division of the International Law and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association and as director and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Lex Mundi. Charles is currently Vice-Chair-Europe of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association.
Charles has been an arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings, is a frequent speaker at civic and professional gatherings, and contributes articles to a variety of professional publications. He is particularly interested in researching and writing about law firm management.
