IFLR in cooperation with Asia Law, last night named the development of several highway concession projects in India as the “Infrastructure & Real Estate Deal of the Year”, at the IFLR Indian Awards which took place at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai. In 2011, Grupo Isolux Corsán (Isolux), through its concessions division, signed an agreement with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure (MSI) to manage its investments in a joint venture company for the development of three highway concession projects in India. This agreement is one of the most important strategic alliances in the Indian infrastructures market.

The establishment of this joint venture with MSI enabled Isolux, currently the first European group engaged in highway concession projects in India, to reinforce and enhance its presence in the highways concession field in India, and to increase its portfolio of projects in this country.

Madrid based corporate partner Juan Francisco Falcón led this transaction together with Antonio Herrera (corporate partner based in New York), Belén Giménez (corporate associate based in Madrid) and Jesús López Tello (tax partner based in Madrid).

Upon accepting the award, Jorge Martí, corporate partner in charge of Uría Menéndez’s Indian Desk stated that, “this award reflects Uría Menéndez’s ability, in cooperation with other independent law firms around the globe, to assist its clients on some of today’s most important transactions in the international arena.” Following the growing activity of Spanish and Portuguese companies in India, several years ago, Uría Menéndez set up an Indian Desk composed of lawyers from different offices in Europe, South America and Asia.
