Uría Menéndez maintains its leadership in Spanish business law according to Chambers Europe 2014

The firm is ranked in the first band in 21 practice areas

Uría Menéndez continues to lead the Spanish legal market according to the 2014 edition of the Chambers Europe guide published by Chambers & Partners. For the eighth consecutive year, the firm is ranked first band in 21 practice areas and second band in six areas. This year the TMT area moved up to first band: Information Technology.

The novelty of this edition is the inclusion of Corporate Compliance and Insurance, which Uría Menéndez obtained first and second band for, respectively. Areas not included in this year’s analysis were: the Environment - Climate Change and General Business Law, Labour - General Business Law, Intellectual Property and General Business Law. Also not included were Life Sciences in the special ranking for Barcelona.

In Portugal, Uría Menéndez - Proença de Carvalho was placed among the top firms in the country with recommendations in most practice areas analysed. In the 2014 edition, the firm improved its ranking in Competition to first band and obtained second band in Banking and Finance: Insurance.

With regard to individual rankings, special mention was made to Luis de Carlos as Eminent Practitioner in Capital Markets (Equity), José Pérez Santos in TMT: Telecommunication as Senior Statesman and Jaime Folguera, Ignacio García-Perrote and Agustín González as Stars in Competition, Labour and Intellectual Property (Copyrights) respectively. In Portugal Daniel Proença de Carvalho in Litigation and Corporate Crime and Duarte Garín in Real Estate were ranked as Stars.
