Uría Menéndez continues to lead the rankings in Chambers Europe 2010

The firm ranks first in 18 practice areas.

May 26, 2010

Uría Menéndez has, for the fourth consecutive year, been named Spanish market leader in the 2010 edition of Chambers Europe published by the editorial Chambers and Partners. The firm has been named in all 26 practice areas analysed by the directory, and is ranked in band 1 in 18 practice areas, and in band 2 in 8 areas.

This year, Uría Menéndez has moved up to band 2 from 3 in the sports and entertainment and TMT: Information Technology rankings. The firm also appears for the first time in the ranking for TMT: media (band 2).

The 2010 edition does not include an in-depth analysis of corporate M&A: tax and financial services: regulatory; and instead only ranks lawyers from this last area. It has also modified its analysis of capital markets. In previous years, Chambers and Partners has carried out an independent study for debt, equity and securitisation, however, on this occasion it has compiled a joint ranking. When classifying lawyers, the directory differentiates between those specialist in equity and debt.

Chambers Europe 2010 names Uría Menéndez’s Portugal office as one of the leading national firms and recommends it for most areas of practice. The firm has risen to band 2 in its ranking for public law and transportation: shipping and is ranked in band 2 in restructuring and insolvency, which has been included for the first time this year.

Furthermore, the directory mentions 94 Uría Menéndez lawyers in Spain and Portugal.
