Ignacio Zapata joined Uría Menéndez in 2016 and is a member of the firm’s banking and finance practice. He was seconded to the firm’s London office from September 2020 to August 2021 and worked as a foreign associate in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom from September 2025 to May 2026.
His practice focuses mainly on banking and finance, debt restructurings and M&A.
Ignacio has advised on a broad range of financing transactions, including acquisition finance, leveraged finance, dividend recapitalisations, holdco financings, debt restructurings, project finance (particularly in the energy sector) and real estate finance. He has also been involved in structured finance transactions and securitisation programmes. Ignacio advises both lenders – including banks, institutional investors and debt funds – and borrowers, particularly companies backed by investment funds, or institutional investors).
