Uría Menéndez recognised for its leadership in diversity at the 2025 Top LGBTI+ Leaders Awards

December 15, 2025

Last week, Uría Menéndez was recognised at the 2025 Top LGBTI+ Leaders in Spain Awards, an initiative by REDI (the Spanish Network for LGBT+ Diversity and Inclusion) and Actualidad Económica. Each year, this event highlights organisations and professionals that are fostering more inclusive work environments. Jesús Remón, the firm’s senior partner,  received the award at the ceremony held at Cuatrecasas’ headquarters in Madrid. The event brought together more than 200 representatives from institutions and companies. This year’s event also coincided with Human Rights Day, emphasising the ethical and social importance of corporate commitment to diversity.

This year, the awards recognised 25 companies and 45 professionals, in an effort to highlight initiatives that strengthen equal opportunities and create visible role models within organisations. This visibility is particularly important in a context where many individuals in leadership positions feel unable to express themselves fully, making efforts to promote positive role models in the business environment all the more valuable.

During the event, Borja Sainz de Aja, a partner at Uría Menéndez and chair of REDI, highlighted the importance of setting inspiring examples for future generations. He noted that, for many years, LGBTI individuals lacked professional role models, and initiatives such as Top LGBTI+ Leaders help to address this issue. He also spoke about the importance of creating organisations where talent can flourish freely and authenticity is embraced, and stressed the role that projects such as this one play in achieving this.

The 2025 edition marks another significant milestone: their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain have accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Awards. Their gesture reinforces the awards’ institutional impact and their contribution to advancing human rights in the business world. Both REDI and Actualidad Económica also observed that LGBTI+ diversity has become a key driver of innovation, talent recruitment and retention, and competitiveness.
