Approval of the Statute of the Independent Whistleblower Protection Authority

On 29 October 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the Statute of the Independent Whistleblower Protection Authority (Autoridad Independiente de Protección del Informante – “AIPI”), the independent administrative authority regulated by Title VIII of Law 2/2023 of 20 February on the protection of persons who report violations of the law and the fight against corruption (“Law 2/2023” or the “Whistleblower Protection Law”). The Statute was approved by Royal Decree 1101/2024 of 24 October, which entered into force on 31 October 2024, but the AIPI will not be operational until the date set by ministerial order.
