María José Descalzo Benito is a lawyer in Uría Menendez’s Madrid office. She joined the firm in 2006 from the Spanish National Energy Commission (Comisión Nacional de Energía).
María José specialises in banking, finance, energy and project finance law. She has advised on many legal firsts in Spain relating to energy supply and trading, third party access to electricity and gas infrastructures and the development of new CCGT plants and renewable energy projects.
María José has advised investors on the acquisition of stakes in hydrocarbon logistics companies, initial public offers of energy companies, the acquisition and sale of gas transportation and distribution assets, and the acquisition and financing of renewable energy projects.
