Mario Montes joined Uría Menéndez in 2015 and he is a managing associate of the firm since 2023. From March to December 2020 he was seconded to Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City.
Mario specializes in white collar criminal law, advising and representing corporate clients and its directors, managers and employees before Spanish courts.
In particular, Mario has extensive experience in large scale corruption cases and criminal proceedings involving environmental offences, workplace accidents, industrial safety and security accidents, tax offences, privacy offences and offences related to trade secrets.
He also advises companies on national and international internal investigations and on the design and implementation of corporate compliance programmes, including internal information systems (whistleblowing protections) in accordance with Spanish Law 2/2023.
In addition, Mario has successfully represented clients in appeals for constitutional protection of fundamental rights before the Spanish Constitutional Court.
