Rafael Sánchez Aristi joined the firm in 2015 as a consultant in the Madrid office. He specialises in copyright law, computer law, digital services, e-commerce, media, data protection and privacy. He is a chaired professor of civil law at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2018). He was the director of studies and reports of the General Council of the Judiciary between (2009-14), and served as deputy judge in the Provincial Court of Guadalajara (2007-09).
His doctoral thesis “Copyright on Musical Works” was awarded the first Francisco de Asís Sancho Rebullida Prize (Universidad de Navarra, 1999). In 2015, his work “Braided Property: the Interaction of the Material and the Immaterial in Works of Art” was awarded the first Rodrigo Uría Meruéndano Art Law Prize (2015).
He is director of the Ibero-American Art Law Yearbook, deputy director of the journal pe. i. revista de propiedad intelectual, member of the Civil Law Lecturers Association, and member and former president of the Spanish Group of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale.

He is chaired professor on civil law at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2018). He is involved in graduate and post-graduate teaching at the School of Law and Social Sciences of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He participates or has participated in postgraduate programs and continuing education programs in various universities and educational institutions, such as the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Escuela Judicial of the Consejo General del Poder Judicial, the Universidad de Alicante, ESADE, the Universidad San Pablo CEU and the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha.
He is regularly invited to participate as a speaker at conferences, workshops and seminars organised by bodies such as the World Intellectual Property Organization, European Institute of Public Administration, International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, Consejo General del Poder Judicial, Instituto Cervantes, Instituto de Empresa, ESADE, Asociación Española de Derecho del Entretenimiento, and the Asociación Española de Fundaciones or Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa.
