Uría Menéndez appoints five new partners and four counsels

Today the firm announced that it has appointed five partners and four counsels, effective 1 January 2026. These promotions reflect our ongoing commitment to developing talent and a strong career model grounded in excellence, transfer of expertise, shared values, and quality legal work.
The new partners are:

A litigation and international arbitration specialist based in Barcelona, Jorge focuses on contentious proceedings concerning insolvency and restructuring before the Spanish courts, and national and international arbitral tribunals. He is an adjunct professor of Civil Law at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and ESADE.

Based in Madrid, Felipe regularly advises on M&A transactions and on corporate law and governance for listed and private companies. He also has experience in venture capital and start up transactions and corporate restructurings. He lectures in Commercial Law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE).

Tânia, based in the firm’s Lisbon office, specialises in EU and competition law, including merger control, cartels, abuse of dominant position, State aid and private enforcement matters. In recent years she has led matters in the financial, media, healthcare, telecommunications, aviation, energy, tourism and pharmaceutical sectors. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Lisbon, where she lectures as an assistant professor in the Law Faculty.

Olatz advises on corporate law and corporate governance from the Bilbao office, with a focus on M&A transactions, restructurings, contracting, asset deals (including real estate portfolios) and financing transactions.

An urban planning lawyer based in Lisbon, Gonçalo has extensive experience advising public and private sector clients on urban and spatial planning and environmental matters. He advises on all areas of planning law, including planning instruments, administrative control of urban operations, urban and land restructuring, and environmental impact assessments.
The new counsels are::

A Barcelona real estate lawyer, Joan focuses on the sale, acquisition and financing of large real estate portfolios, management platforms, major individual assets, and development projects. He advises on complex asset and share sale transactions, including forward purchase, forward funding and sale and leaseback transactions. He also specialises in real estate joint ventures, leasing, construction and real estate finance.

A corporate crime lawyer based in Barcelona, Mario specialises in defending corporate clients and their directors, managers and employees before the Spanish courts. He has extensive experience in environmental crime proceedings, workplace accidents, industrial safety, public procurement offences, tax and technology related crimes, and trade secrets. He also advises companies on internal investigations and crime prevention programmes.

A lawyer in the Madrid office, Miguel deals with all types of private law disputes, particularly those related to construction and corporate and post M&A matters, as well as insolvency issues. He regularly appears before the civil courts and major Spanish arbitration institutions.

A Madrid real estate lawyer, Andrea has extensive experience advising companies and investment funds on M&A and joint venture transactions involving real estate assets (hotels, residential and flex living buildings, and offices, among others). She also regularly advises on the negotiation of asset management agreements and on contracts related to real estate development.
